New Day #185

Today Young Noah brought his posse over to make us brunch.

Aren't they adorable? I totally heart the Boomerang Generation.

Having a pack of twenty-somethings arrive rather arbitrarily to feed me is unusual in of itself, but Young Noah also prepared savory French Toast, made with paprika, garlic, sea salt and black pepper and topped with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and avocado.

Random fact: The English don't call it French Toast. They hate the French so much they call it Eggy Bread. Yet they call a cake a "gateux," so go figure.

Could you send Noah my way? I'm feeling a bit peckish myself.

BTW, what is the "boomerang" generation?

OMG i am so totally gonna make that. i loves me some savory in the morning. but i thought they called it pain perdu? (aka Lost Bread) which makes less sense than Eggy Bread. which sounds like something the french might do.

Yummy! Both the adorable 20-somethings AND their tasty breakfast offerings.

Marc, just how DOES one have a slew of cute young things appear to cook up some grub? The only ways I can think of are quite illegal, not to mention immoral.

Which makes it all better, really.

I really would rather not have to be the person to offer up spelling correction considering just how much I look up to you, Marc, darling, however I believe it is spelled "gateaux".

Just saying.

WOW that's some serious french toast! It has inspired me to learn how to cook...

You say tomato, I say tomahto.
You say gateux, I say gateaux...

Either way, that sandwich looks swell and I'm hungry. Let's eat!

"Gateux" was a typo, I swear.

As for the "boomerang" generation, they are the children of the baby boomers, otherwise known as the millenials.

so!!

i made this yummy yummy concoction this 4th of july weekend at my cabin on the mckenzie (sorry no photos). we cooked it outdoors on our wood-fired, metal-slabbed grill, and ate it, folded over, while taking in our fine view of castle rock.

the reviews were unanimously stellar, and i gave you (and your boomerangs) full credit. thank you so much for adding to our repertoire of celebration-worthy breakfast foods. this stuff is pure magic!
