Went to a dinner party tonight where the hostess asked me if I would light the tea lights. Which are in those votive cups, so you need a long match or lighter. Which we didn't have. Necessity being the mother of invention, I discovered that a pencil works almost as well.
The truly ridiculous thing about this project is that these little diversions truly make my day.

The Mother of Invention. The theme of your blog this year.
It's such a treat to return from unplugged days and see what's new with you.
I'm an avid tea-light user. I have a hefty supply of wooden matches of various lengths. Never thought to use a pencil. Good tidbit to know.
What are you going to do for an encore?
Really? I would never have thought of a pencil. I'm the person who is always picking up matches everywhere and usually has some on her, just because I love candles.
Now, I'll have to carry pencils on me. Finally, a use for that gift of a "Hello, Kitty!" pencil. . .
