New Day #60

Realized there's a reason why I've never done today's New Thing: because it made me feel AWFUL. Somehow I rationalized that there was no harm in scrawling on a bathroom wall that was already tagged with graffiti.

Wrong! Not only was I wracked with guilt, but I got totally paranoid about getting caught. So much so that I'm afraid to show you the picture. Y'know, because it's evidence. So, instead, here's a picture of Australian graffiti:

In retrospect, I suppose I should have taken a hint from what I wrote.

I wrote "I HATE GRAFFITI."

When I was a child, I wrote some graffiti on the bathroom in my third grade classroom. I was also terrified of being caught. What made my crime particularly pathetic is that I wrote a curse word. The best I could come up with was "damn". Of course, I misspelled it and left the "n" off the end. I'm sure the sight of "dam" on the bathroom wall didn't shock too many of my classmates.

I, also, had my first graffiti experience when I was a child. I lifted the contact paper from my dresser drawer and wrote F*** in black magic marker. I know, SO rebellious! When my mom changed it out and asked what it was, I denied it. In fact, that subject came up not to long ago and I still denied it. Come to think of it, I still have that bedroom set.

In 7th grade I wrote "I love Marc" on the inside of my trapper keeper. ;-)

I'll be on the lookout for that graffiti!

Similar to dead nurse, I wrote some graffiti in my high school bathroom. A few days later I was in the same staff and realized I had made a spelling error. I was mortified.

New here. Love the blog. And not just the pictures of you naked.

The mortification continues.

"stall" not "staff"

I was never much for the criminal kind of graffiti (which I apparently can't spell!). Though I have to be honest, I once wrote a scientific formulas on the back of a bathroom door before a test, and then asked if I could go the the bathroom halfway through...

Cheater cheater!

But that's super-geek graffiti, right? So I guess it doesn't really count...

I think I graffiti-ized a bathroom wall once, long ago, under the influence of alcohol. I read the stupid, horrifically bigoted things other people had written (one of which was an assassination threat) and I believe I penned, "People like you should be put to sleep." Horrifying, now that I think about it. I was suggesting the very act (murder) I was supposedly condemning. But then, I may just have fantasized about writing that. I probably left the stall unmarked, knowing my aversion to stealing, cheating and breaking any law except speeding.

My favorite graffiti ever, seen on the wall of a parking garage at University of Washington in the 1970s: "BACK IN 10 MINUTES -- Godot."
