I totally heart Nordstroms. Not only are they the most wheelchair accessible store (see yesterday's post), but, on the advice of Willamette Week's
Byron Beck, I stopped in at the downtown store for a shoe shine. For just two and a half bucks.

See? SHINY!

Also took a shine to my shiner, who, it turns out, is an aspiring writer. I can't imagine many cities other than Portland where you end up discussing Joseph Campbell with your shoe shine guy.
What's more, with the windows rolled up in the car, I got kind of high from the polish fumes.
Which is just another reason to heart Nordstroms.

Byron is the epicenter of all things downtown Portland, is he not? And Joseph Campbell?? I need to go there the next time I'm in town!
Byron Beck is also my favorite dinner guest because he's willing to say anything.
