New Day #181

Sometimes I wonder why I'm not run out of Portland. I don't drink coffee. I'm not remotely outdoorsy. And I know next to nothing about indie music. Luckily, have an Alt-Evangelist who is making me far cooler than I have any business being.

Tonight I expanded my horizons by tagging along at a private acoustic session hosted by 94.7 featuring the front men from Death Cab for Cutie.

Here's a totally meta video of a happy-sounding song with a depressing lyric. I can't decide if it's ironic or just confused. Since the name of the band comes from a 1967 song parody, I'm inclined to go with ironic.

I don't always feel fit to be a Portlander either, Marc. Someone once told me that true Portlanders love beer, dogs, and bicycling. I'm not really a fan of any of those! (though I do congratulate you on your biking adventure yesterday.)

Ok so I'm reading your books and I'm newly addicted to your blog and I totally want to be bffs. :) Has doing something new every day made you happier?

I hope so. <3. It's such a fantastic idea.

I love Portland though I'm not into beer or skiing.

When I moved here 11 years ago, it was fun being asked, "Where are you from?" I knew it was an anti-Californian question but when I said "New Jersey" eyes would glaze and one person even asked me if that was a state. Just to confuse people I would add, "Before that, Cleveland." [Ohio]

Not just *any* song parody... a song parody by Neil Innes!!! Right on mother scratcher!

Ain't you ever heard the Secret Policeman's Ball? Or the Rutles? How about some Monty Python?

:-P

Responding to Ineedarecess, I'd have to say my favorites have been having a drink thrown in my face, riding an electric wheelchair and walking on stilts.
