I've always known I'd never have kids. That it was my destiny to be someone's wacky uncle. As such, I'm immensely proud that my godkids, Ian the Wonder Child and Amy the Wild Card, have been inspired to Do Something New every day, too. Which they accomplish in their own inimitable ways.
Today, they invited me over to sample the games they invented, which simply confirmed everything you'd ever need to know about their personalities.
Amy created not one but two games in the space of twenty minutes, the first involving ladders and snakes You roll a die, then move your piece along the board.
"But there are no spaces," Ian complains. "How do you know how far to go?"
"You can move inches," she explains. "Or the size of your thumb. It doesn't matter."
It really doesn't, as the rules seem to change as the game goes along. This isn't because she's 7. It's because she's Amy.
Ian, on the other hand, has a complicated grid system requiring you to earn cards of unequal values like 132 and 87. In the end, you calculate your score adding up rows of two and three digit numbers. Then he asks you to answer his Evaluation Form. That's right, an Evaluation Form, like: How would you rank this game? Would you recommend it to your friends?
I can't say for certain how this project has affected my life, but I'm so proud of how it's affected theirs.

Cute kids. They must be marvelous - they put up with quite the different uncle! lol.
Yeah I'm enjoying being an Uncle. It's way better than being a Parent.
By the way, I had no idea you wrote 'how I paid for College' but I loved it! And Mikes just finished reading it and written a review on it
Those are two amazing godchildren. I wish I had had an uncle like you when I was growing up!
They are an adorable yingyang.
