New Day #273

Many of you have been kind enough to inquire about the health of Sherman the Wonder Dog and I'm pleased to say he's doing better.

What happened was that we needed to give him a pill for his heart murmur, but the old trick of hiding it in cream cheese wasn't working. So we tried a beef-flavored pill pocket, which he loved.

Unfortunately, he loved it so much he completely stopped eating his food. I suppose I can't blame him. If I ate dry chicken kibble for thirteen years, I might enjoy beef, too.

So I went to the pet store to find him a beef-flavored food and they recommended adding canned food to his dish because he might be having a hard time chewing the dry.

And--voila--he loves it.

I guess I'm not the only one around here who was in a rut.

Bandit went through something similar with his food. Now I have to feed him like a king...it's all down hill once they taste real food.

Our older dog has the same problem with kibble. I have a mortar and pestle, and I smash up both dogs' pills and mix it in with their food.

I'm glad Sherman's better. It's hard when our old pals hurt, isn't it?
