Today I tried those push-ups where you clap in between, as if you were applauding yourself. It never occurred to me I could do them, but I did something similar when I shadow-boxed, and I thought I'd give it a try.
I was amazed to discover I could sixteen. I suppose I shouldn't be amazed--I've done enough push-ups in my life--but I still tend to think of myself as the doughy kid who had to do them on his knees (aka "puss-ups").
Thus inspired, I tried the one-armed push-up.
Yeah, not so much.

AAAAAHHHH! Horrible middle school P.E. flashbacks! If you bring up chin-ups, too, my self esteem is going to take a huge nosedive.
Were you a doughy kid, Marc? No!! Hey, cute baby. Good thing you didn't mix up your posts and put the baby in the armpit one...
Hi Marc,
We met at the writer's conference in Edmonds...wanted to say that just read your first novel and really enjoyed it! This was after putting down Isabel Allende's latest novel because it was to boring. Yawn.
Rebecca
One-arm push-ups are really hard. It's balance in addition to strength. With clap push-ups you just have to be careful to not land so hard that you hurt your wrists. Good for you.
Please tell me this is little Marc in the baby picture!? It doesn't have to be true - just tell me it is.
(I tried to call you "little Marky", but with the c, it turned into "little Marcy" - as in Brady - and that completely changed the nature of the comment.)
