New Day #319

With the help of the aptly named Storm Large, I finally found out for myself whether blondes have more fun.

They do.

First Storm applied a product called Radical Bleach

Then used the extra on her own roots.

We waited an hour, allowing a look at what Storm's man Davey called "ass boobs."

And here I am--a demi-blond.

I had no idea this would be so much fun and decided instantly that coloring my hair will be my new hobby. But I have to give my scalp a rest for a few days before I do another round to achieve that platinum Billy Idol look I'm going for.

I used to bleach my hair as a teenager. I loved the way it used to make my hair feel like cotton. I think that's why I permanently have a bleached blond ring around my hairline.

Be careful! Bleach destroys your hair. So condition, condition, condition!

Sorry, but ¡What a cruel way to treat your beautiful hair! Please, make it greyish again as soon as you can.
There are thousands of Billy Idol copies, and only one Marc Acito

I love the blonde locks! I bet every time you look in a mirror, you get a jolt of newness.

When I was about 7 years old, my dark-haired mother went platinum blonde on a dare. She went from looking like a mom to looking like a stranger from Hollywood. She was probably all of 32 years old but for chrissakes, to her brood of children, she was a mom! It was quite shocking - to her too. She colored it back after two days. There's new and then there's No Way!

Your dark hair suits you so much better. I have (or had) dark hair and I understand the longing to have more options like blonds do, but it rarely looks right to me. You also look more manly with your natural color.

But you didn't do the eyebrows!

well platinum blond will be interesting but I agree with peter the eyebrows have to be part of it too! enjoy your frolics in blond land just don't lose your hair!

I too went through my platinum blond period.
I'm guessing (hoping) what you've done is strip the color out, and then are going back to put the platinum in.
In addition to heavy conditioner, purchase a 'bluing' shampoo for white/platinum hair. It keeps it from yellowing and getting brassy which can happen quickly.
Enjoy you platinum-ness!

p.s. screw the eyebrows. Keeping them natural adds to the overall shocking effect, which IS part of fun.

You lightened your hair! Looks good on you, but you are still a bit orange.

Lighten again, however, please do not leave it on too long. Your hair will melt right off your head.

You also need to tone it with something violet colored. You could try a light application of "Shimmer Lights" shampoo, a Clairol product.

Did I ever tell you that I spent almost a decade as a Field Technical Sales Representative for the Clairol Professional Products Division, headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut? I called on hundreds of hair salons in the Boston area. (1983-92). Before that, I represented the Goldwell company of Germany (1981).

DAHLING, NOW YOU WILL HAVE TO TELL US IF BLONDES HAVE MORE FUN.

Make it a great day!

Ellen

Wow! I love messing with my hair, too, and have been told to try blonde, then told stay dark. I think I like the dark on you better, too, but the trying it out is so much fun!
Can't wait to see the final results.

Well, I like it. But I'd also love to see you go full-on refrigerator white, like Ray Wise on Twin Peaks. That would be truly arresting. Or do I mean arrested?

Bravo! I've done the blond thing twice, once by my mistake and once because the student made the mistake. (I sacrifice my head to the beauty school!)

Enjoy it for however long it lasts. I'm not sure you'll want to be a forever blond but the options for pink, blue, green and red are now open for you. Streaking is fun too, not just the naked kind but the hair kind....

No really, do your eyebrows. Not having them match(ish) looks tacky. Tacky! Look at Storm, she's got coordinated brows. Do it.

Marc,

This certainly takes care of the arduos hassle of 'gray' colouring those random hairs in your dark mane...

Do keep having fun, go on to eyeliner also. skip the lipstick, unless it is flavoured and your man likes them...

Fabulous. But as cliched as it is to ask, I have to: have you dared to dye the carpet to go with the drapes?

Ack and no.

Yey! I wasn't the one that looked like doris day after bleaching hair...I couldn't walk through the house without my sister singing "A womans touch" to me.

Hi! Hello! My anonymous internet advice for you today is that you might be okay with just some toner, rather than another application of bleach. It will get the orange out, and you will totally look like Billy Idol, and it will be awesome. Toner! Seriously.

Holy f'n God. Go back to grey. and never EVER use "Sun In" for the "natural blonde highlights". It'll make you orange. Yeah, like the fruit. did it at the Jersey shore. Perhaps you remember.

Hi! I would like to open beauty salon. Does anybody have an experience in this business? There are too many options in different salon equipment. Could anybody give me an advise? What store is more reliable to buy Ionic facial steamer and Facial steamer parts. I'm choosing between Advance-Esthetic and Miami Beauty Supply websites.
