New Day #343

Picked up friends late tonight at the airport, so I took advantage of the empty terminal by walking up the down escalator. I can't believe I've never done it before. I like to think of myself as a wacky, madcap iconoclast but, seriously, how wacky, madcap and iconoclastic can you be if you've never walked up a down escalator?

(Actually, you have to run up inelegantly to make it work.)

In my defense, I am a habitual banister-slider, which has got to count for somethin'.

I used to yell at kids like you when I worked at Sears. Secretly, I was jealous. I've never done it either.

So you're just lazy. You'll readily take the easy way down the stairs, but up until now weren't willing to put in the effort to take the hard way up.

NaNaNa! I'm more madcap than you! In my stodgy, non-alternative lifestyle.
I've even encouraged my kids to run up the down escalator if it was empty. They've also cruised through parking lots, after curfew, in grocery carts...
Of course when the police wanted to take them home, they had an adult sister to call instead of me.
There are benefits to being old...
