Thanks to Courtenay Hameister of Live Wire Radio, I met Deirdre Thompson, who agreed to teach me how to walk on stilts.
Of all the things I've done this year thus far, this absolutely ranks among the best. Just the thought of it fills me with wonder. I mean, I had no idea how to do it, yet, after fifteen minutes, I was walking two feet higher on my own.
Hours later, I'm still walking tall, giddy with the accomplishment.
Here's me walking down the street, right before I fell on my face and broke a stilt.
Deirdre couldn't have been more gracious, even inviting me back to learn how to fire-dance.
With my luck, I'll probably burn down her house.

Walking tall. Love the jacket.
The helmet is a nice touch.
You know, I woke up this morning feeling sick and super crabby. Now after reading your post, I am congested, but considerably more cheerful and wanting to learn to walk on stilts myself. Thank you! You really are fabulous!
I'm not wearing a helmet. That's just my big fat head.
I can't believe I just now stumble upon your blog, and only through Gawker (of all things!). You are hilarious as always. And this is a great idea for a blog! You're going into my Google Reader, pal!
Cool. Keep your head in the clouds.
So very proud! I'm, in fact, going to be performing on MY stilts this weekend for Cleveland's Parade the Circle. They are 3-feet. Did you do any tricks?
So are you ready to try walking on stilts in a full length black costume with a skull face mask? We are always looking for volunteers to wear our reaper costume during Halloween :)
