New Day #182

I got to drive a tow truck today. I'm not talking just any tow truck. I'm talking the big rig, the kind that's used when another big rig breaks down. I never even realized there is such a thing. I love it when I discover a job I didn't know existed. Plus I felt muy, muy macho.

Yet I was still reminded how people are not their jobs. I mean, there I was in the middle of this burly, macho environment talking when I found myself talking to the company's owner about antiques.

Leave it to me to find a way to gay it up.

I'm feeling the new do, Mr. Macho! That's Macho, not Machio (The Karate Kid).

Dont you need a special permit for driving those trucks? Here in Spain it is really hard to get one; you have to pass a special exam, be a good mechanic... You dont need to be macho though, and there are quite a few lady- lorry- drivers.

Cool stuff! Vroom-vroom!

Except, [question?] I never thought an interest in antiques was a gay thing.

I'm also trying to figure out what "alternative" means since I think I'm not, but don't have a definition. Is it being "outside the box"? Who defines the box?

Figure skating, floral arranging, flight attending, antiquing--just a few of the professions we own.

As for a definition of alternative, I'm not sure, but if you have to ask, I'm guessing you're not.

For what it's worth, I straddle both worlds. Around conventional people, I'm the hippest guy in the room, around alternative people, I'm the squarest.

As witnessed by the fact that I just used the word "squarest."
