New Day #250

At the suggestion of Mr. Out Going, I peered inside Portland's automated metered parking system. Once again, I'd like to think this is the kind of isn't-life-grand sort of curiosity I would exhibit under normal circumstances, but the fact is I probably wouldn't have stopped were I not desperate to come up with something new every single day.

Speaking of which, I could really use some suggestions, people. Only 115 days left, so if there's something you'd like to see happen, now's the time to speak up. If I'm peering into parking meters, you know it's pretty dire.

Anyway, some guys were repairing a machine and I nosed my way to see the inner workings. They wouldn't let me photograph it or them, but I did learn some fun facts, like that the meters are wireless, so they can report credit card transactions to the bank. And, to the infinite amusement of my taller friends, I also learned that they are powered by solar panels, which are apparently visible to people over six feet.

Being snack-sized myself, this was definitely Something New.

Would it be something new for you to attend a Republican Party event since I know you are a diehard Democrat??

I think you should do more things with your kilt but you should expect that kind of answer from me.

Have you toured the production line of one of the local chocolate companies? That would high on my list of To Do's.

Just throwing out some things:

Clean a fish
Churn butter
Start a fire with just sticks and tinder
Make your own paper
Henna tattoo
Eyebrow threading
Ear candling
Work food service in a cafeteria
Go on one of those cleansing herbal liquid diets for a day

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

fast for a day.
eat frog's legs.
wear a toupee.
dress all in leather.
speak only in rhyme.
live your day backwards.
spend a day in a wheelchair.
write a pastiche.
write a song.
sleep on the floor.
switch houses with a friend.
go to a Thai church.
play the violin.
impersonate somebody else.
compliment everyone you encounter.
make a thanksgiving dinner.
talk with an accent.
ride a unicycle.
dress as your favorite disney character.
get locked up in jail.
have a tea-party.
stalk a celebrity.
paint a portrait.
change your name.
wear floyd's clothes.
send your teachers thank you notes.
bake a blueberry pie.
teach your cat to use the toilet.

I hope these help, Marco!!!

We have a few of those meters in downtown Long Beach, as well. It's always entertaining to watch someone try to figure out how the darn thing works.

I think it is so cool that you have been blogging every day. I have been blogging on and off for a few years and I would love to start blogging again regularly. As for ideas, I don't really have any as I am trying to come up with some myself. If I come up with any ideas, I will let you know.

Go behind the scenes at the Portland Opera, then see a performance of something and then report back!

Here's how to cut your power bill by 75%:

Want to know how to easily produce all of the renewable energy you could ever want right at home?

And you will be able to make your home totally immune from power failures, blackouts, and energy grid outages
so even if everyone else in your area (or even the whole country) loses power - you won’t.
